No sound during play back, error about play device

First step, for all Windows Operating Systems

Review all of the mixer volume settings in your PC's volume/mixer control to make sure they are up. Tools: Play, Windows Volume Control...

Still no sound?

Make sure you have NoteWorthy Composer Version 2.75.

-Update from Version 2.x to Version 2.75

-Upgrade from Version 1 to Version 2.75

For Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, if you have no playback and/or you get a message "One or more of your selected MIDI devices are failing to open," in Tools: Options, Midi tab, make sure you only have the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth set under Devices used by play back:. The operating systems no longer support MIDI Mapper.

For Windows 8.1 and 10, if you get an error message that there are "No Midi Play Devices" and when you go to Tools: Options, MIDI, there are no Available play devices or Devices used by play back....... you need to reinstall the audio/sound drivers for the operating system to fix the problem.

-Search for Device Manager
-Look at Sound/Audio devices
-Right-click on the sound driver and choose uninstall
-Click on Scan for hardware changes and the updated driver will be installed

For Windows XP and earlier systems, you can open your system's volume/mixer control by doing the following. Press the Windows Start button, Select Run, Enter "Sndvol32.exe" and press Enter.

For Windows Vista, you must double click the speaker icon near the computer's clock in the task bar.

In NoteWorthy Composer Version 2, as well as the NoteWorthy Composer Viewer, you can open the volume control directly from the program. Simply click the yellow speaker icon in the toolbar.
